Fighting Childhood Obesity on a National Level_4868

Fighting Childhood Obesity on louis vuitton outlet a National Level A recent CNN report indicated that Chicago school children are eating less school lunches after the Chicago school district implemented healthier school meals. As nearly 1/3 of all Moncler Jackets school children in the U.S. are overweight the federal government is increasing its attention Burberry Store on the quality of school lunches with the hopes of fighting childhood obesity in our country. Unfortunately, it seems that the message about childhood obesity is not getting through to parents and that children continue to choose unhealthy meals. There has been some debate over how far the government should go to enforce healthy eating for U.S. children while fighting childhood obesity. Sarah Palin Burberry Store has been criticized for challenging Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign and citizens protested a law in the city of San Francisco forcing McDonald's to take the toy out of their popular Happy Meals. At the same time Jamie Oliver has committed to fighting childhood obesity in America's schools, one school at a time. The intentions to fight childhood obesity are present. The debate seems to be focused on how to do it. Living in the U.S. where the rights canada goose jakke of the individual are constantly weighed against the good of the country, any legislation that crosses the threshold of the individuals' private lives comes under immediate and intense scrutiny, even in the fight against childhood obesity. This is what Sarah Palin was not so subtly trying to say. And, in part, Sarah Palin is correct. Parents have the right to feed their children as they wish. Just as they have the right to fill their homes with second hand smoke for their children to breath. What Sarah Palin implied was also correct, ultimately, parents are responsible for what their children eat. I believe that most parents are doing the best with what they know and with the resources they have. Yet, childhood obesity is killing America's children, slowly. However, our country as a whole is not free from fault. Our society has created an environment of cheap, unhealthy convenience food that is culturally acceptable and encourages childhood obesity. We have been fooled to believe that just because the food is sold in a store and tastes good that it is healthy, or at least, not harmful. This is one of the most unfortunate misunderstandings that parents are exposed to every day and it has led to an epidemic of childhood obesity. It takes extra effort, awareness, time and education for parents to make good, healthy decisions for their children and many parents are too concerned with merely putting food on the table to engage in the extra effort it takes to completely overhaul their family's eating habits. One of the most encouraging developments in the fight against childhood obesity is the recent partnership between Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, and the Let's Move Campaign. With a commitment to provide healthier food for consumers at affordable prices Wal-Mart hit a home run for the Burberry Store LV Sunglasses fight against childhood obesity canada goose sale and for parents who need the opportunity to make healthy food choices within their already stretched budgets. Future steps in the fight against childhood obesity in America should include raising the awareness of parents regarding the tragic health effects that childhood obesity has on children, even as they grow to adulthood, as well as providing resources and tools that enables parents to construct healthy budget and time friendly meal plans for their families. Finally, these efforts will have Burberry Store to be taken to the local level, to the parents of the school children in each community. We Moncler Jackets cannot stand on a mountaintop and scream the message about childhood obesity, we must hand deliver it to those we hope to reach and we must reach everyone.
